Inspiration Behind The NoHo Collection
The Amrita Singh offices are lucky enough to be located in one of the most unique cities in the world- NYC! Our neighborhood is NoHo, located North of Houston Street, and this trendy yet diverse area is the inspiration for Amrita's new NoHo Collection.
NoHo is a designated historic district, occupied by ornate buildings full of character commissioned throughout the second half of the 19th century, as well as luxury townhouses and organizations.
Full of cultural institutions like The Public Theater arts organization, NoHo is also surrounded by the East Village and NYU which leads to an interesting blend of lively communities, culture, and constant neighborhood activities. NoHo became an artistic center for the creative visual arts in the 80's. Even though Amrita Singh Jewelry began 25 years later, much of this new collection pays homage to that artistic sensibility and NoHo artists like painter Frank Stella and contemporary artist Sandy Gellis.
NoHo is full of chic fashionistas and Boho artisans. This leads to the intricate beading and vibrant colors found throughout this collection, which can be demonstrated by the Noho Multi Strand Necklace. It's inspiration is taken directly from the streets outside the office: the colorful street art, old brick walls of the buildings, and wrought iron stoops and railings.
Casual city chic is the style definition of this collection, matched with lots of versatility. These pieces transition effortlessly from morning work meetings to weekend adventures and enjoying the nightlife. Color is infused throughout the world of Amrita Singh, but the modern design elements of these ombre gradients and color-blocking techniques are in the forefront of NoHo style. Amrita's signature elements of gold and shimmering crystals are still present as subtle highlights, emphasizing the shine of the city streets and the energy felt throughout the city that never sleeps.
