Amrita Singh's Top Earring Picks
Q & A with Amrita Singh
New York Fall 2018 Fashion Week runways were all about Statement Earrings. Models came down the runways of brands like Tom Ford, Balenciaga, and Louis Vuitton all adorned in glitzy, oversized chandelier earrings and '80s inspired resin hoops. The statement earring is this upcoming season’s accessory of choice. Summer only just started so we still have plenty of time to stock up on this bold on the lobe trend before it hits Fall 2018.
Amrita Singh Jewelry have a stunning collection of women's earrings, from classic hoops to chandelier statements. There is no excuse, you will find a pair that you love!
Q: When and why did your love of earrings start?
I got my ears pierced when I was 6 month old, clearly that was not my choice. But I’m glad my Mom got them done when she did. That being said I don’t think I actually bought my first pair of earrings till the age of 13. Yeah, hoops were the “hot thing” at that time and I was into it in a big way.
Q: From hoops to tassels, the Statement Earring is this season’s accessory of choice. What is your favorite Earring trend?
I am more of a hoops and studs girl! I think they are classic and look good on any “shaped” face.
Q: Your first pick is the Paros Island Earring. Why did you pick them?
I love that earring because it is such a statement yet so lightweight. It comes in a variety of colors, and can go with almost any outfit, any season of the year.
Q: What was the inspiration behind the Paros Island Earring?
This earring was created in fashion jewelry after we made it in semi precious stones and 18k gold, but the prices were well over $4,000. So we wanted to create a look for less using vibrant stones and crystals instead of semi precious diamonds in 18k. It is a signature look for us and one that has become a timeless classic.
Q: Your second pick is the Star Crystal Stud Earring. The Star Crystal Stud Earring is only $30, but looks so much more expensive! What are the key elements to consider when creating an expensive looking outfit under a budget?
Yes it does look more expensive, in fact this earring was initially made in 14k gold and diamonds and I happened to lose 1 piece on the beach! So I decided to make a similar version in fashion jewelry and price it at $30, still using the best crystals as well as plating on the piece.
When under a budget, don't invest in trendy items that may go out of style eventually. Stick with the classics—invest in closet staples and neutrals that are timeless. The elegant blazer, LBD, white blouse, a great pair of trousers, ballet flats, etc. Then dress up those staples with statement jewelry and accessories. And voilà you got yourself an expensive looking outfit for a fraction of the price!
Q: Your third and last pick is the Jasmine Earring. Why did you pick them and how would you style this pair of earring?
I love the femininity of this earring, the floral motif is one that you can either dress up or down! I would wear the Jasmine Earrings by either going all out with a floral / embroidered look or simply with a plain t-shirt! It's an effortless piece to style.
